The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is set to launch on September 29, 2026, bringing upgraded visuals, combat, progression and other enhancements, while the new Songs of the Past expansion is planned for 2027.
WARSAW, Poland — CD PROJEKT RED has announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, with the upgraded version scheduled to launch on September 29, 2026. The release will bring a broad set of visual, performance and gameplay improvements to Geralt of Rivia’s acclaimed adventure.
The announcement was made during gamescom Opening Night Live, where CD PROJEKT RED also provided the first look at Songs of the Past, a new paid expansion scheduled for 2027.

The Witcher 3 Remastered brings major visual upgrades
The Remastered edition is designed to modernize the game’s presentation while retaining the core experience. Environmental, character and monster textures have been improved, alongside reworked lighting and enhanced ray tracing.
The upgraded lighting is intended to create more natural illumination and stronger light-and-shadow effects throughout the open world, from wilderness areas to the streets of Novigrad.
Combat and movement get a major overhaul
CD PROJEKT RED has also made changes to how Geralt moves and fights. Revamped animations are intended to make combat more fluid and precise, while new finishers add additional ways to end encounters.
An adaptive camera will dynamically adjust during battles. It can move closer when Geralt faces fewer opponents and provide a wider view when he is surrounded by multiple enemies.
Traversal and general movement have also been modernized, alongside improved mount handling and enhanced monster behaviours.
Skill trees redesigned for greater flexibility
One of the most substantial changes affects character progression. The skill-tree system has been completely redesigned, with new perks and abilities added and existing skills reworked.
The redesigned system is intended to give players greater flexibility when developing Geralt’s build and make character progression more intuitive for modern RPG audiences.
Transmogrification, mods and expanded photo mode
Remastered will introduce transmogrification, allowing players to change the appearance of weapons and armour without giving up the benefits of their preferred equipment.
Cross-platform mod support will also allow Xbox Series X|S players to access custom content, including new quests, weapons, equipment and balance changes.
The expanded photo mode will add new poses, camera controls, frames, filters and models, giving players more options for capturing moments from Geralt’s journey.
Free upgrade and expansions for existing owners
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered will be available as a free upgrade for existing owners on qualifying platforms. The game will launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, alongside native versions for Nintendo Switch 2 and Battle.net.
CD PROJEKT RED also announced that all owners of The Witcher 3 can access Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no additional cost. Digital owners will receive the expansions through their libraries, while disc-based players can claim them through the Store.
Songs of the Past introduces Letten
Songs of the Past will take Geralt to Letten, a new region described as an idyllic land shaped by rural traditions, folklore, harvests and festivals. Beneath that peaceful setting, however, lies a dark secret that draws Geralt into another witcher investigation.
The expansion will feature previously unseen monsters and new combat options. Geralt will gain access to new mutagens as well as a chain weapon, a feature that serves as a reference to the opening cinematic of the original The Witcher game.
Songs of the Past targets 2027 release
Songs of the Past is planned as a paid expansion for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. It is already available to wishlist on select platforms.
CD PROJEKT RED is co-developing the expansion with Fool’s Theory, while Yigsoft is co-developing the Remastered edition. The company plans to reveal more information about both projects during future presentations.
