NEW DELHI, India — Several parts of India are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on Saturday, August 8, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting widespread showers across northern, central, eastern, northeastern, western and peninsular regions. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are also expected in some areas, with the weather department warning of possible waterlogging and flooding.

Heavy rainfall lashed Delhi on Friday, leaving several parts of the national capital waterlogged and causing massive traffic congestion across key roads. The downpour disrupted normal life, with flooded streets, stranded vehicles and long traffic queues reported from multiple locations in Delhi as well as adjoining Noida and Gurugram.
