RENO, United States — The Hawk Fire burning on a hillside in Northern Nevada just outside Reno had grown to 10,523 acres by Saturday evening, according to mapping platform Perimeter Map. Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo declared a state of emergency in Washoe County as firefighters faced a rapidly changing, wind-driven blaze.

Canada Wildfire Doubles in Size, Forcing Thousands to Flee
SUMMERLAND, British Columbia, Canada — A fast-moving wildfire in western Canada has doubled in size since it was detected on Friday, forcing thousands of people to evacuate as flames spread across parts of British Columbia. The Bald Range fire had grown to more than 36 square miles (95 square kilometres) by Saturday and remained out of control, according to the BC Wildfire Service.
