Friends of MY Bharat Connects Global Indian Youth With India’s Development Journey

GANDHINAGAR, India — The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has launched Friends of MY Bharat, a new digital initiative designed to connect Indian-origin youth living around the world with India’s development programmes, volunteering opportunities and youth-led nation-building activities. Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse announced the initiative during the BRICS Youth Summit 2026 in Gandhinagar.

India’s journey towards becoming a global sporting nation is entering a new phase with increased government investment, improved sports infrastructure and a stronger focus on identifying and developing talent from the grassroots level. The expanded Khelo India Scheme, along with enhanced support for National Sports Federations, has emerged as a major pillar of this transformation with a combined financial outlay of ₹36,441 crore for the period 2026-27 to 2030-31.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, she said universities must go beyond academic excellence by promoting research, innovation, entrepreneurship and ethical values that contribute to nation-building.
