Indian boxers celebrate historic seven gold medals at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow
India finishes atop the boxing standings with a record seven gold medals and three silver medals at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow.

India produced its greatest-ever boxing performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, finishing at the top of the boxing medal standings with a record haul of seven gold medals and three silver medals. The landmark achievement surpassed the country’s previous best Commonwealth Games boxing campaign and underlined India’s growing dominance in the sport on the international stage.

The historic campaign concluded on Saturday after heavyweight boxer Narender Berwal secured the silver medal in the men’s 90+kg category, taking India’s overall boxing tally to 10 medals. The performance established Glasgow 2026 as India’s most successful Commonwealth Games boxing campaign, eclipsing all previous editions.

India Tops Commonwealth Games Boxing Medal Standings

India’s boxers delivered consistent performances throughout the tournament, winning medals across both men’s and women’s events. The team finished with seven gold medals and three silver medals, comfortably securing the top position in the boxing standings.

Medal Count
Gold 7
Silver 3
Total 10

The achievement also improved significantly on India’s performance at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, where the country collected seven boxing medals, including three golds, one silver and three bronze medals.

Seven Indian Boxers Clinch Gold Medals

India’s golden campaign was powered by outstanding performances from both experienced campaigners and rising stars. The country’s seven gold medals came from boxers across multiple weight divisions, highlighting the depth of Indian boxing.

  • Preeti Pawar – Women’s 54kg
  • Jaismine Lamboria – Women’s 57kg
  • Sakshi Chaudhary – Women’s 51kg
  • Priya Ghanghas – Women’s 60kg
  • Arundhati Choudhary – Women’s 70kg
  • Sachin Siwach – Men’s 60kg
  • Ankush Panghal – Men’s 80kg

The three silver medals were won by Jadumani Singh (Men’s 55kg), Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain (Women’s 75kg) and Narender Berwal (Men’s 90+kg), completing India’s record-breaking medal tally.

Ankush Panghal Seals India’s Seventh Gold

India’s final gold medal came through Ankush Panghal, who defeated England’s Dimeji Shittu by a 4-1 split decision in the men’s 80kg final. The victory ensured India finished the competition with seven boxing gold medals, the highest by the country at any edition of the Commonwealth Games.

Panghal remained composed throughout the contest and produced a disciplined tactical display to edge past his English opponent in a closely fought final.

Sachin Siwach Produces Stunning Comeback

One of the most dramatic victories of India’s campaign came in the men’s 60kg final, where Sachin Siwach overturned a difficult start against Namibia’s Tryagain Morning Ndevelo.

After trailing during the opening two rounds, Siwach mounted an impressive comeback in the final round. His aggressive approach forced a standing count before the judges awarded him a thrilling 3-2 split-decision victory, adding another gold medal to India’s tally.

Arundhati Choudhary Dominates Women’s 70kg Final

Arundhati Choudhary continued India’s remarkable run in Glasgow with a commanding performance in the women’s 70kg final. She outclassed England’s Chantelle Reid, securing a comprehensive 5-0 unanimous decision after controlling the bout from start to finish.

Her technical superiority, consistent scoring punches and disciplined defence left little room for her opponent to respond, earning India another well-deserved gold medal.

Preeti Pawar Delivers One-Sided Victory

Preeti Pawar produced one of the most dominant displays of the tournament in the women’s 54kg final. She defeated Canada’s Scarlett Delgado by a unanimous 5-0 decision, with all five judges awarding each of the three rounds 10-9 in her favour for a perfect 30-27 scoreline.

Preeti further underlined her dominance by registering a knockdown during the contest, capping off a memorable performance that strengthened India’s position at the top of the boxing standings.

Jaismine Lamboria Lives Up to World Champion Status

Reigning world champion Jaismine Lamboria showcased her class in the women’s 57kg final against Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh. After edging a closely contested opening round, the Indian boxer gradually took complete control with accurate combinations, superior movement and clean punching.

She eventually claimed a convincing 5-0 unanimous decision, adding another gold medal to India’s historic campaign.

Sakshi Chaudhary and Priya Ghanghas Extend India’s Golden Run

Sakshi Chaudhary delivered another clinical performance in the women’s 51kg final, defeating England’s Ruby White by a comprehensive 5-0 unanimous decision. Throughout the bout, Sakshi maintained control with quick footwork, disciplined defence and precise combinations that prevented her opponent from gaining momentum.

Priya Ghanghas also added to India’s medal tally after overcoming Canada’s Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh in a closely fought women’s 60kg final. Priya secured a hard-earned 4-1 split-decision victory to complete India’s golden sweep in another weight category.

Silver Medals Complete Historic Campaign

While India celebrated a record number of gold medals, three more boxers contributed silver medals to complete the country’s best-ever Commonwealth Games boxing performance.

Boxer Category Medal
Lovlina Borgohain Women’s 75kg Silver
Jadumani Singh Men’s 55kg Silver
Narender Berwal Men’s 90+kg Silver

Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain narrowly missed out on the gold medal after suffering a 1-4 split-decision defeat to Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree in the women’s 75kg final.

Jadumani Singh settled for silver in the men’s 55kg category after losing 0-5 to Australia’s Jye Dixon. Despite making a strong start by edging the opening round, the Australian boxer recovered well to claim the remaining rounds.

The tournament concluded with Narender Berwal earning the silver medal in the men’s 90+kg division after his final against England’s Damar Thomas. Although he fell short of gold, his podium finish completed India’s record-breaking 10-medal boxing campaign.
