GUWAHATI, India — Assam’s ongoing flood crisis has claimed 100 lives, according to the latest Disaster Reporting and Information Management System (DRIMS) bulletin, as widespread inundation continues to affect districts across the state and rescue and relief operations remain underway.

Assam floods death toll reaches 100
The latest DRIMS Assam bulletin said the floods have caused fatalities across several districts, with large parts of the state continuing to face the impact of rising floodwaters. District administrations and revenue circles are monitoring the situation while relief and rescue efforts continue in affected areas.
The reported fatalities include 60 males, 23 females and 18 children, comprising 12 boys and six girls. The figures provided in the bulletin, however, add up to 101, while the reported overall death toll stands at 100.
Authorities also issued a specific correction concerning Sivasagar district. One death had been entered twice under the same name, prompting officials to revise the district’s figure from 50 to 49.
Worst-affected districts report multiple fatalities
Sivasagar remains among the districts with the highest reported number of deaths, even after the correction. The district has recorded 49 fatalities, according to the latest figures.
Cachar has reported 22 deaths, making it another severely affected district. Karimganj has recorded nine fatalities, while Golaghat has reported eight. Deaths have also been reported in Dhemaji, Nagaon, Udalguri, Sonitpur and Karbi Anglong.
The continuing flood conditions have left affected populations dependent on emergency assistance as authorities work to provide relief and medical support in inundated areas.
Jorhat sees widespread impact
The flood situation has also caused substantial disruption in Jorhat district. Around 1.66 lakh people have been affected across 304 villages, while nine casualties have been reported in the district.
Agricultural land and livestock have also suffered significant losses, adding to the difficulties faced by communities already dealing with the effects of the flooding.
Rescue and relief operations continue
Rescue and relief operations remain in progress across the affected parts of Assam. District authorities are continuing to monitor water levels and provide assistance to people in areas affected by inundation.
The Central Government and Assam Government are providing support for relief, rehabilitation and medical assistance as the state responds to the continuing disaster.
Chhattisgarh announces Rs 5 crore assistance
Amid the crisis, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced financial assistance of Rs 5 crore from the state government for people affected by the floods in Assam.
The assistance is intended to support ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts. Sai also spoke with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over the telephone and took stock of the flood situation in the state.
