Vaibhav Sooryavanshi celebrates after scoring 81 against Zimbabwe in the 3rd T20I as India completed a 3-0 T20I series sweep.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi starred with a brilliant 81 as India defeated Zimbabwe by 35 runs to seal a dominant 3-0 T20I series clean sweep.

India vs Zimbabwe:India ended their T20I tour of Zimbabwe on a perfect note after defeating the hosts by 35 runs in the third and final T20 International at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday. The visitors completed a comprehensive 3-0 series whitewash, producing another all-round performance under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer.

The biggest talking point of the series was once again teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, whose mature innings of 81 runs guided India to a challenging total before the bowlers completed the job. The youngster was deservedly named both the Player of the Match and the Player of the Series after a dream campaign in Zimbabwe.

The victory also marked Shreyas Iyer’s first bilateral T20I series win as India’s captain, giving the young squad plenty of confidence ahead of their upcoming assignments.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi anchors India’s innings with another masterclass

After winning the toss, India chose to bat first and once again received an aggressive start from their opening pair. While Zimbabwe managed to bowl with more discipline than in the previous match, the Indian batters kept the scoreboard moving through intelligent stroke play.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played one of the most complete innings of his young career. Instead of attacking every delivery, the left-handed opener showed remarkable patience, selecting the right balls to punish while rotating the strike effectively against Zimbabwe’s spinners.

The 15-year-old reached his half-century confidently before accelerating during the middle overs. His innings of 81 off 49 deliveries included eight boundaries and four towering sixes, giving India complete control of the contest.

The youngster also created history by becoming only the second player in men’s international cricket to register multiple fifty-plus scores before turning 16 years old.

Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer provide valuable support

While Sooryavanshi dominated the headlines, India’s middle order also made useful contributions.

Ishan Kishan scored a fluent 29 runs before being bowled by Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza. Shreyas Iyer continued the momentum with a brisk 27-run knock, playing several elegant boundaries during his short stay at the crease.

Rinku Singh then added the finishing touches with an entertaining 25 off just 14 balls, helping India finish strongly despite losing a wicket on the final delivery.

India eventually posted 192/5 in their allotted 20 overs, a score that looked above par considering the nature of the Harare surface.

Zimbabwe bowlers fight back in the death overs

Although India appeared capable of crossing the 200-run mark, Zimbabwe’s bowlers showed resilience in the closing overs.

Brad Evans picked up two wickets while Blessing Muzarabani bowled several effective slower deliveries to restrict the late scoring. Sikandar Raza also made an impact with the crucial wicket of Ishan Kishan during the middle overs.

Despite those breakthroughs, Zimbabwe struggled to contain Sooryavanshi, whose innings ultimately proved to be the difference between the two sides.

Mayank Yadav strikes with the very first ball

Zimbabwe’s chase suffered an immediate setback when express pacer Mayank Yadav dismissed Brian Bennett with the very first delivery of the innings.

The early breakthrough allowed India to dictate terms throughout the powerplay. Zimbabwe never managed to build the partnerships required to threaten the challenging target.

Mayank consistently bowled above 140 km/h and mixed his pace intelligently to trouble the Zimbabwe batters.

Ryan Burl fights lone battle for Zimbabwe

Experienced all-rounder Ryan Burl tried his best to keep Zimbabwe in the contest.

Burl remained positive against both pace and spin, bringing up an impressive half-century while wickets continued to fall at the other end. His innings of 54 runs from 43 balls was the lone bright spot in Zimbabwe’s chase.

However, the required run rate kept climbing, and the lack of substantial partnerships meant Zimbabwe never truly threatened India’s total.

Indian bowlers complete another clinical performance

India’s bowlers once again delivered a disciplined performance throughout the innings.

Mayank Yadav finished with three wickets, while Yash Thakur produced crucial breakthroughs in the middle overs. Ravi Bishnoi continued his excellent form with accurate bowling, ensuring Zimbabwe’s batters never settled.

The visitors maintained pressure by taking wickets at regular intervals and restricted Zimbabwe to 157/7 in 20 overs.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi bags Player of the Match and Series

The teenage sensation capped off a memorable tour by collecting both major individual awards.

Speaking after the match, Sooryavanshi credited the Indian team management for backing him throughout the series and said he enjoyed batting in Harare because of his previous experience during the Under-19 World Cup.

He added that his only approach was to play the same attacking cricket he practices every day while trying to convert good starts into big innings.

Captain Shreyas Iyer delighted with fearless young squad

Shreyas Iyer described the series victory as a special moment in his captaincy career.

The Indian skipper praised the fearless attitude displayed by the young players and said their energy, intent and willingness to accept responsibility had been the biggest positives of the tour.

Iyer also stressed that the team’s focus would remain on continuous improvement rather than simply chasing results, believing that consistency in attitude would help Indian cricket in the long run.

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza admitted India were the superior side throughout the series but remained optimistic about his team’s progress.

Raza praised Zimbabwe Cricket for organizing matches against one of the world’s strongest teams, saying such opportunities are essential for the development of the national side.

He highlighted the performances of several young Zimbabwe players and expressed confidence that the experience gained during the series would help the team improve in future international competitions.
