Akhil Akkineni’s action drama Lenin will begin streaming on Zee5 from August 7 after its theatrical run.

Akhil Akkineni’s action drama Lenin, which marked a significant turnaround in the actor’s career after the disappointing performance of Agent, is set to make its digital debut. The film, directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, will begin streaming exclusively on Zee5 from August 7 in its original Telugu language, less than a month after its theatrical release on July 10.

The announcement was made by the streaming platform through a new promotional trailer, giving audiences another glimpse into the film’s blend of action, emotion and family drama. With its upcoming OTT release, viewers who missed the film in cinemas will now have an opportunity to watch one of Telugu cinema’s notable releases of the season from home.

Zee5 Announces Digital Premiere

Zee5 confirmed that Lenin will premiere exclusively on its platform on August 7. Sharing the announcement, the platform described the film as a story driven by love, revenge and revolution, while releasing a fresh trailer ahead of the digital launch.

The newly released promotional video also features a voiceover by veteran actor Nagarjuna Akkineni, adding a personal touch to the campaign. Nagarjuna later appeared in a separate promotional video celebrating the OTT release, expressing happiness that the streaming date falls in August, which is also his birthday month.

The promotional campaign encouraged audiences who missed the theatrical run to catch the film on Zee5, highlighting its transition from cinemas to digital streaming.

A Comeback Film for Akhil Akkineni

Lenin arrived in theatres on July 10 and received mixed critical reviews. Despite the divided response, the film provided much-needed momentum for Akhil Akkineni, whose previous outing, Agent (2023), failed to perform at the box office.

According to trade website Sacnilk, Lenin has collected approximately ₹49.14 crore net in India and around ₹67.09 crore gross worldwide since its theatrical release. The film’s commercial performance has been viewed as a positive step in Akhil’s career after the disappointing run of Agent, which reportedly earned only about ₹13.40 crore worldwide despite being mounted on a large budget.

Story Revolves Around Justice, Family and Resistance

Written and directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, Lenin follows the journey of a young man whose personal struggles gradually transform into a larger fight against injustice. What begins as an emotional love story develops into a conflict involving family relationships, power struggles and the determination to protect those closest to him.

The narrative combines action sequences with emotional storytelling, placing equal emphasis on personal relationships and larger social conflicts. This blend of commercial entertainment and family drama forms the central theme of the film.

Cast and Production Details

The film stars Akhil Akkineni and Bhagyashri Borse in the lead roles. The supporting cast includes Sivaji, Sunil, Easwari Rao, Brahmaji, Getup Srinu, Ramki and Pramod Panju.

Lenin has been jointly produced by Nagarjuna Akkineni and Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under the banners Manam Enterprises LLP and Sithara Entertainments, while Annapurna Studios has presented the film.
