हिमालयी राज्य सिक्किम में ग्लेशियल झीलों से अचानक बाढ़ आने के खतरे को लेकर चिंता बढ़ गई है। राज्य सरकार ने 40 ऐसी ग्लेशियल झीलों की पहचान की है, जिन्हें हाई-हैजार्ड यानी अत्यधिक जोखिम वाली कैटेगरी में रखा गया है। इनमें 16 झीलें कैटेगरी-A में हैं, जिन्हें सबसे ज्यादा जोखिम वाली श्रेणी माना गया है।
