West Indies aim to complete a Test series victory over Pakistan as the teams meet in the second Test in Trinidad.

West Indies will aim to clinch their first Test series victory over Pakistan in more than two decades when the teams meet in the second and final Test of the 2026 Pakistan tour of the Caribbean. The match begins on Sunday at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad, with the hosts carrying momentum after a 90-run victory in the opening Test.

West Indies enter second Test with confidence

The hosts produced a disciplined all-round performance in the first Test, combining a potent pace attack with resilient batting to secure a 1-0 lead in the series. The victory also extended West Indies’ encouraging run in red-ball cricket following their recent home Test series win over Sri Lanka.

Captain Roston Chase will once again lead a side featuring experienced pacers Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales alongside the pace of Shamar Joseph and spin options led by Jomel Warrican.

Pakistan searching for answers after opening defeat

Pakistan arrive in Port of Spain under pressure after another disappointing overseas Test defeat. Despite matching West Indies for long periods in the opening match, the visitors suffered a dramatic collapse, losing 16 wickets for just 109 runs across their final two innings.

The tourists have also been dealt a setback with opener Shan Masood ruled out after suffering a fractured finger. Abdullah Shafique is expected to replace him at the top of the batting order, while Pakistan could also make changes to strengthen both their batting and bowling combinations.

Key players to watch

Tagenarine Chanderpaul may not have produced a big score in the first Test, but his patient innings played a crucial role in helping West Indies absorb pressure during difficult phases of the match.

For Pakistan, much of the responsibility will once again rest on captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan. Abdullah Shafique also has an opportunity to cement his place after returning to the playing XI following Masood’s injury.

Pitch and conditions

Weather forecasts indicate a relatively dry spell despite the wet season in Trinidad, reducing the likelihood of rain interruptions. Unlike the first Test, the Queen’s Park Oval surface is expected to offer greater assistance to spin bowlers as the match progresses.

Key statistics

  • West Indies are bidding for their first Test series win over Pakistan since 2000.
  • A draw or victory would give West Indies consecutive Test series wins.
  • Pakistan recorded two of their biggest Test victories in the Caribbean at Queen’s Park Oval in 1958 and 1977.

Series outlook

West Indies head into the second Test as favourites after their comprehensive performance in the series opener, while Pakistan must improve their batting consistency if they are to avoid another overseas series defeat. With the hosts eyeing a historic series triumph and the visitors fighting to stay alive, the Port of Spain Test promises another closely contested battle.
