NEW DELHI, India — POCO could be preparing to push smartphone battery capacity to a new level in India with its upcoming X8 series. Tipsters Sanju Choudhary and Debayan Roy have suggested that the POCO X8 and POCO X8 Power may arrive around September, with the higher-end X8 Power reportedly carrying a 10,000mAh battery that would make it the first POCO smartphone to reach that capacity.

Key Highlights

  • POCO X8 Power is tipped to feature a 10,000mAh battery, the largest capacity yet for a POCO smartphone.
  • The POCO X8 and X8 Power are reportedly expected to launch in India around September.
  • X8 Power could be a rebranded Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, scheduled to launch in Malaysia on August 27.
  • The standard POCO X8 is tipped to offer a 9,000mAh battery and Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset.

POCO X8 Power Could Bring a 10,000mAh Battery

According to tipster Sanju Choudhary, the POCO X8 Power is currently in development with a 10,000mAh battery. If the claim proves accurate, it would mark a major jump in capacity for POCO’s smartphone portfolio in India.

The device would also continue the company’s recent focus on large batteries. POCO’s existing M8 Power launched in India with an 8,000mAh battery at Rs 24,999, while the recently launched M8x offers a 7,900mAh battery starting at Rs 18,999.

POCO X8 Power Specifications Tipped

The POCO X8 Power is tipped to feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 3,840Hz PWM dimming and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

For performance, the phone could use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. However, a lower variant may reportedly use UFS 2.2 storage.

The tipped camera setup includes a 50MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 32MP front camera. The handset could also carry IP68 and IP69 ratings while measuring 8.68mm in thickness.

Four OS Upgrades and Six Years of Security Updates

Choudhary has also claimed that the POCO X8 Power could receive four OS upgrades and six years of security updates. These details, along with the remaining specifications, have not been officially confirmed by POCO.

The reported combination of a large battery, long-term software support, AMOLED display and updated storage technology could position the device above POCO’s current M-series models.

POCO X8 May Get a 9,000mAh Battery

Debayan Roy has suggested that the standard POCO X8 will sit below the X8 Power in the lineup. The device is reportedly expected to feature a 9,000mAh battery and an AMOLED display.

The POCO X8 could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor, giving it a position above the lower-priced M8 series but below the expected X8 Power.

Redmi Phones Could Be Rebranded for POCO

Both tipsters have linked the upcoming POCO models to Redmi smartphones. The POCO X8 Power is expected to be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, which is scheduled to launch in Malaysia on August 27.

Roy has further claimed that the Redmi Note 17 effectively corresponds to the POCO M8 Power, while the Redmi 17 5G corresponds to the POCO M8x. Under this reported naming strategy, the Redmi Note 17 Pro could become the POCO X8, while the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max could arrive as the POCO X8 Power.

POCO X8 Series India Launch Tipped for September

Debayan Roy has suggested that both the POCO X8 and POCO X8 Power could arrive in India around September. POCO Global has also started teasing a new phone, although the supplied information does not confirm whether the teaser is directly related to either X8-series model.

If the reported launch timeline is accurate, the X8 series would give POCO a new battery-focused offering in the upper mid-range segment, with capacities of up to 10,000mAh.

What Will Matter Beyond the Battery Size

A 10,000mAh battery would be the biggest attraction of the POCO X8 Power, but battery capacity alone will not determine its overall value. The display, charging speed, chipset performance and phone weight will also be important for a smartphone designed for everyday use.

POCO has yet to officially confirm the X8 series specifications, Indian pricing or launch date. Buyers will have to wait for official details to determine how the reported POCO X8 and X8 Power compare with other smartphones in their respective price segments.
