Google Pixel 11 with Tensor G6 and Gemini AI features
Google unveils the Pixel 11 series with upgraded cameras, Tensor G6 and deeper Gemini AI integration.

NEW DELHI, India — Google has unveiled its new Google Pixel 11 smartphone generation, placing artificial intelligence, upgraded cameras, stronger hardware and the new Tensor G6 processor at the centre of its latest devices. The lineup includes the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL, with pre-orders beginning from August 12 and retail availability scheduled for August 20.

  • Google Tensor G6 powers the new Pixel 11 generation and its Gemini AI features.
  • Pixel 11 gets a larger 48-megapixel main camera and 30x Super Zoom.
  • Pixel 11 Pro models offer up to 120x Pro Zoom and brighter Super Actua displays.
  • Prices start at $899 for Pixel 11, $1,099 for Pixel 11 Pro and $1,299 for Pixel 11 Pro XL.

Pixel 11 Focuses on Gemini and Personalised AI

Google is positioning the Pixel 11 series as more than a conventional smartphone upgrade. The company says its latest devices are designed around Gemini Intelligence, with AI increasingly integrated into the operating system and everyday phone functions.

Gemini Intelligence is intended to understand information across services such as messages, calendars and maps. It can then help users with tasks including checking availability, comparing travel options and beginning a restaurant reservation, reducing the need to manually move between multiple applications.

Google Devices chief Rick Osterloh said the company believes AI could substantially change how people interact with phones and computers. He described Gemini Intelligence as a different way of interacting with a computer, where users can move beyond simply finding information toward getting tasks completed.

Pixel 11 Gets New Design and Display Improvements

The standard Pixel 11 features an edge-to-edge glass design around Google’s distinctive camera bar. Google says the camera bar is 40% thinner than before, allowing the phone to sit more evenly when used with a Made by Google case.

The handset combines a satin metal frame with a polished glass rear panel and an Actua display. Google says the device has also been engineered to withstand everyday splashes, scratches and drops.

Pixel 11 will be offered in Pistachio, Hibiscus, Frost and Obsidian. The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL will come in Canyon, Fog, Olive and matte Obsidian finishes.

The Pro models feature Super Actua displays reaching up to 3,600 nits. Google has also introduced a new anti-scratch coating that it says provides more than twice the scratch resistance of the previous generation.

Pixel 11 Camera Upgrades Target Low-Light Photography

Camera performance is another major focus of the Pixel 11 series. The standard model receives a larger 48-megapixel main sensor with 56% greater light sensitivity, according to Google.

The phone’s 5x telephoto camera can also reach 30x Super Zoom with the assistance of Tensor G6 and Google’s imaging technology. The company says the improvements are designed to deliver stronger results in difficult lighting conditions.

Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL receive a new main camera sensor and an upgraded 48-megapixel telephoto camera. The redesigned telephoto system has 30% greater light sensitivity and supports Portrait Mode at 5x.

For users seeking longer-range photography, the Pro models add Pro Zoom reaching up to 120x. Google has also upgraded the Image Signal Processor inside Tensor G6, while redesigned software and sensors allow Night Sight to capture images up to 4.5 times faster, according to the company.

Tensor G6 Drives Performance and On-Device AI

The Pixel 11 generation is powered by Google’s Tensor G6 chip, which the company describes as its fastest and most powerful processor so far. The chip has been designed specifically to support Google’s AI ambitions alongside everyday smartphone performance.

Google says the upgraded CPU delivers 25% faster web browsing and 15% quicker app launches. Tensor G6 also includes 50% more TPU computing power and works with the latest Gemini Nano model.

According to Google, on-device AI processing can be up to 3.5 times faster while consuming up to 3.5 times less energy. The company is using that processing capability to strengthen camera features as well as Gemini-powered experiences.

Security Gets a Major Upgrade

Google is also placing greater emphasis on device security. The Pixel 11 series introduces the Titan M3 security chip alongside the Tensor G6 processor.

The company says the combination provides stronger protection against advanced attacks and includes post-quantum cryptography for secure boot. Google is presenting this architecture as a forward-looking security measure as computing threats evolve.

Google also cited a Counterpoint Research report that assessed the Pixel’s AI experience as having strong privacy protection. The claim was presented as part of the company’s broader security and privacy positioning for the new generation.

Pixel 11 Pricing and Availability

All three models start with 256GB of storage and support faster charging. Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro add compatibility with Qi 2.2 25W wireless charging, while Pixelsnap is built into the devices.

Google says the Pixel 11 Pro XL can provide up to 15 hours of battery life after 15 minutes of wired charging. The phones will also receive seven years of operating system, security and Pixel Drop updates.

Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL buyers will receive six months of Google AI Pro, including higher Gemini usage and 5TB of cloud storage.

Google Pixel 11 Faces a Growing AI Smartphone Race

The Pixel 11 launch comes as smartphone makers increasingly compete around AI capabilities rather than hardware specifications alone. Google’s strategy puts Gemini at the centre of that competition, while Apple is also working toward deeper AI integration in its smartphone ecosystem.

Counterpoint Research research director Tarun Pathak said AI has risen among consumers’ reasons for upgrading smartphones, although it still ranks below several other considerations. He said stronger use cases and greater awareness will be important if AI is to translate into more device upgrades.

Google’s hardware division also expects pressure from higher memory component costs. Osterloh said shortages involving RAM and flash memory are affecting consumer electronics manufacturers and could contribute to higher device prices across the industry.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the main upgrade in the Pixel 11 series?

The biggest changes include Google’s Tensor G6 processor, deeper Gemini integration, upgraded camera systems, improved displays and enhanced security features.

When will Pixel 11 phones go on sale?

Google says the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL will become available at the Google Store and retail partners from August 20, following pre-orders.

What Happens Next for Pixel 11

Google’s latest Pixel generation is designed to test whether deeper AI integration can become a meaningful reason for consumers to upgrade their smartphones. With Gemini increasingly embedded into everyday tasks, the company is betting that the next phase of smartphone competition will be shaped as much by intelligent software as by cameras, processors and displays.
