Dimple Yadav Slams Centre Over Ram Mandir Donation Row, Student Protest Crackdown

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav on Thursday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of deceiving Lord Ram over alleged financial irregularities involving donations made to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. She also criticised the Centre over the alleged police action against students who participated in the July 20 protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
Dimple Yadav Raises Ram Mandir Donation Allegations
Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Dimple Yadav linked the Opposition’s protest over the alleged Ram Mandir donation embezzlement with concerns surrounding the treatment of student protesters. She alleged that the government had failed to honour assurances given to those who participated in the July 20 demonstration.
Yadav questioned why students who took part in the agitation were allegedly being singled out and subjected to continued police action. She also accused the government of going back on commitments made to protesters.
“So where is this trying to establish a ‘Ram Rajya’? You even deceived Lord Ram by having his donations stolen.”
Yadav further accused the BJP-led government of failing farmers and young people on issues including employment before alleging that students and youth were now facing similar treatment.
Opposition MPs Protest at Parliament’s Makar Dwar
The remarks came as Opposition MPs staged a protest at Makar Dwar in the Parliament complex over two issues: the alleged police action against student protesters during the July 20 demonstration and alleged financial irregularities involving donations made to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Dimple Yadav said the Opposition would continue to raise issues concerning the public in Parliament. Samajwadi Party MPs, led by party chief Akhilesh Yadav, had also demonstrated at Makar Dwar a day earlier.
During that protest, SP MPs raised slogans including “chadawa chor, gaddi chor” and demanded a high-level investigation into the alleged financial irregularities concerning temple donations.
BJP MP Arun Govil Says Matter Is Being Addressed
BJP MP Arun Govil responded to the allegations by saying that the government was working on the matter. He urged those raising the issue to wait for a resolution if an incident had occurred.
“The government is working on it, and if any incident has happened, they should wait until a solution is found.”
Govil’s response came amid the Opposition’s demand for greater scrutiny of the alleged irregularities involving donations to the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.
Sudhanshu Trivedi Accuses SP of Politics Over Ram Janmabhoomi
BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi strongly criticised the Samajwadi Party over its protests and accused it of doing politics around the Ram Janmabhoomi issue.
Trivedi said the government was dealing with the matter with sensitivity and vigilance. He also questioned the SP’s criticism by referring to its past position on Ayodhya and the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
“Portraying devotion while doing this is not devotion, it is betrayal.”
His comments added a fresh political dimension to the dispute, with the BJP rejecting the SP’s allegations and the Opposition continuing to demand action over the issues raised in Parliament.
Student Protest Row Adds to Political Tensions
The political confrontation comes amid a separate dispute over the alleged police action against students who participated in the July 20 protest at Jantar Mantar. Dimple Yadav said students should receive justice and questioned the government’s alleged decision to continue action against those involved in the demonstration.
The issue has gained additional political attention ahead of the Rajya Sabha’s consideration of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.
The proposed legislation seeks to strengthen the legal framework dealing with examination-related malpractices. According to the supplied report, it includes enhanced penalties, a Special Task Force for investigations and Special Fast Track Courts intended to ensure time-bound trials.
With the Opposition continuing its protests and the BJP defending the government’s handling of the allegations, the Ram Mandir donation row and the student protest issue have become fresh points of political confrontation in Parliament.
