PM Modi Arrives in Mysuru, Received by Karnataka CM D.K. Shivakumar Ahead of Viveka Smaraka Inauguration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Mysuru, Karnataka, on Saturday to inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre, popularly known as Viveka Smaraka, at the Ramakrishna Ashrama. The visit marks an important occasion dedicated to commemorating the life, teachings and enduring legacy of Swami Vivekananda, one of India’s most influential spiritual leaders.

Upon his arrival at the Mysuru helipad, Prime Minister Modi was warmly received by Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot. The Chief Minister welcomed the Prime Minister by presenting him with a traditional shawl and a bouquet before accompanying him to the inauguration venue.

PM Modi to Inaugurate Viveka Smaraka at Ramakrishna Ashrama

The Prime Minister is scheduled to formally inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre (Viveka Smaraka), a memorial established to honour Swami Vivekananda’s historic visit to Mysuru in 1892. His visit to the princely state formed an important chapter in his nationwide journey, which later culminated in his famous address at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago in 1893.

The newly developed memorial has been designed to preserve and promote Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy, ideals and contribution to nation-building. It is expected to serve as a centre for cultural, educational and youth-oriented activities while inspiring future generations through the teachings of the revered monk.

Visit Includes Interaction at Ramakrishna Ashrama School

Following the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit the Ramakrishna Ashrama School, where he is expected to interact with the institution and observe its educational initiatives. The Ramakrishna Mission has long played a significant role in promoting value-based education, character building and social service across the country.

After completing his engagements in Mysuru, the Prime Minister will depart for New Delhi from Mysuru Airport aboard a special aircraft, concluding his one-day visit to Karnataka.

Multi-Layer Security Arrangements Put in Place Across Mysuru

Authorities implemented an extensive multi-layer security plan ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mysuru to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme. Security agencies carried out advance inspections at key locations, while surveillance and access control measures were strengthened around venues associated with the Prime Minister’s schedule.

Senior police officials monitored the arrangements throughout the day, coordinating with local administration and other security agencies to maintain law and order. The objective was to provide seamless security while minimising inconvenience to residents and visitors.

Over 1,000 Security Personnel Deployed for the Prime Minister’s Visit

More than 1,000 police personnel were deployed across Mysuru under the supervision of South Zone Inspector General of Police M.B. Boralingaiah. The deployment included one Superintendent of Police, one Police Commissioner, four Additional Superintendents of Police, 18 Police Inspectors, 40 Sub-Inspectors, 550 male police personnel, 350 women police personnel and 250 Home Guards.

The large-scale deployment was aimed at securing all important locations connected with the Prime Minister’s visit, including public gathering areas, entry points and strategic routes. Police teams also remained on standby to respond quickly to any emergency situation.

Traffic Restrictions and Enhanced Vigil Around Key Locations

Traffic movement was regulated across several parts of Mysuru to facilitate the Prime Minister’s convoy. Authorities imposed temporary restrictions on 12 major roads and advised commuters to follow alternative routes during the VVIP movement to reduce congestion and ensure public safety.

Security was significantly strengthened around the Ramakrishna Ashrama, Oval Grounds, Mysuru Airport and along the convoy route. Officials urged citizens to cooperate with the temporary traffic diversions and security checks, stating that the measures were necessary to ensure the safe and successful completion of the Prime Minister’s official programme in the city.
