Fresh details have emerged in the case involving Ruchika Singh, who is facing investigation over alleged derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a July 23 protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. A Noida salon owner has alleged that Singh used another name while attending nail-art training and repeatedly declined requests to provide Aadhaar for identity verification.
Ruchika Singh Allegedly Trained at Noida Salon
According to TP Tripathi, owner of a salon in Sector 135, Noida, Singh joined the establishment on May 25 to learn nail art. Tripathi told India Today’s sister channel Aaj Tak that she attended training sessions for around one to one-and-a-half hours a day and continued visiting the salon until June 9.
Tripathi alleged that the salon asked Singh several times to provide her Aadhaar card for identity verification. According to the salon owner, she declined to submit the document on each occasion, citing different reasons.
The salon eventually stopped allowing her to continue the training on June 9 after she failed to provide the requested identification document, Tripathi alleged. He said she did not return to the salon afterward.
Salon Owner Claims She Used the Name ‘Mansil’
Tripathi further alleged that Singh did not provide her real name when she joined the salon. According to his account, she introduced herself as “Mansil.”
However, Tripathi said her behaviour during the training period was normal and that no problems were reported during her visits to the salon.
Commenting on the controversy, the salon owner said that the alleged abusive remarks against the Prime Minister were wrong and should be condemned.
What Is the Jantar Mantar Protest Case?
The allegations concerning Singh’s identity at the Noida salon come amid a police investigation into remarks allegedly made during a protest at Jantar Mantar on July 23.
A Zero FIR was registered against Ruchika Singh at Noida’s Expressway Police Station on July 29, 2026, in connection with the alleged derogatory slogans raised during the protest.
According to the complaint, Singh allegedly used abusive language against the Prime Minister and made remarks that the complainant claimed undermined the dignity of the constitutional office. The complaint further alleged that the remarks were intended to incite ill-will and disturb public peace.
Zero FIR Transferred to Delhi Police
The case was registered under Sections 352, 353(1) and 356(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The Zero FIR has since been transferred to Parliament Street Police Station in Delhi, which is expected to conduct the investigation and take further legal action based on its findings.
The allegations against Singh have not been established by a court, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Police Visit Noida Housing Society

Meanwhile, Saurav Das criticised the registration of the FIR against Singh in a post on X. He argued that the use of criminal proceedings in the case was inappropriate and called for an end to what he described as harassment of a young person.
“The misuse of criminal machinery against Ruchika Singh is unacceptable. Profanity does not attract criminal case. 50% of Lok Sabha MPs have criminal cases against them, close to 100 MPs in the BJP. The Police can focus their energy towards them, not a 25-year old! Harassment of the young must STOP immediately.”
