Kiara Advani explains why the complex Nadia role in Toxic convinced her to join Yash’s action thriller.

Kiara Advani has opened up about her decision to star alongside Yash in Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, explaining why the complexity of her character Nadia convinced her to take on the role despite criticism surrounding the film’s teaser and her bold on-screen appearance.

Kiara Advani Explains Why She Chose Toxic

Speaking to Femina, Kiara said she was immediately drawn to the character after hearing director Geetu Mohandas’ narration. The actress said the role offered the kind of depth and range that she had been looking for at this stage of her career.

“When I heard the narration, I was mesmerised by how well fleshed out this character was, all the meat an actor longs for. I felt I had reached a place in my career where I was confident enough to take on such a character.”

Kiara explained that Nadia is not limited to a single personality trait. According to the actress, the character allows her to explore contrasting emotions and qualities, including strength, vulnerability, madness, derangement, sensitivity and detachment.

For Kiara, that emotional complexity was one of the biggest reasons she agreed to be part of the film. She also said she does not want women to be reduced to stereotypical roles on screen.

Kiara Says Women Should Not Be Put in a Box

Discussing the kind of characters women should be allowed to portray, Kiara said she does not believe female characters need to fit into a fixed mould.

“I don’t like stereotyping women in a box. We are so much more than that, so why shouldn’t our characters be,”

The actress said women on screen should be portrayed as strong, realistic and complex individuals. Her comments come as her character Nadia has attracted attention following the release of promotional material for Toxic.

Kiara Advani Praises Toxic’s Female Cast

Kiara also spoke about working with the film’s ensemble cast, which includes Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.

She described the experience as refreshing and praised each actress for bringing a distinct personality and energy to the project. Kiara said audiences would get to see different female characters existing within the same cinematic universe.

“Every woman brought her own energy and individuality to the film. I think audiences will enjoy seeing such distinct female characters share the same cinematic universe.”

She added that the atmosphere on set involved the cast and crew pushing themselves to create something different, which she said reinforced her connection with cinema.

Kiara Advani’s Toxic Role Has Generated Interest
