SAN FRANCISCO, United States — Uber Technologies reported solid second-quarter 2026 financial results on Wednesday, but its weaker-than-expected outlook for the third quarter weighed on investor sentiment, sending the company’s shares down about 3.5% in early trading.

While the ride-hailing and delivery giant matched Wall Street’s earnings expectations and posted strong growth in bookings, its guidance for the current quarter fell slightly below analysts’ forecasts, raising concerns about the pace of future growth.

Uber Q2 Revenue Climbs 12% Year Over Year

For the quarter ended June 30, Uber reported revenue of $14.19 billion, up 12% from $12.65 billion during the same period last year. Although revenue increased at a healthy pace, it narrowly missed analysts’ expectations of $14.24 billion.

The company reported earnings per share (EPS) of 81 cents, matching Wall Street estimates, while net income rose sharply to $2.39 billion, or $1.17 per share, compared with $1.35 billion, or 63 cents per share, a year earlier.

Mobility and Delivery Businesses Continue Strong Growth

Uber’s core Mobility business remained the company’s largest revenue contributor, generating $7.36 billion during the quarter. Meanwhile, its Delivery segment—which includes food, grocery, and retail deliveries—produced $5.25 billion in revenue.

Gross bookings continued to expand across both businesses. Mobility gross bookings increased 22% year over year to $28.99 billion, while Delivery bookings climbed 26% to $27.46 billion.

Combined gross bookings reached $58 billion, surpassing analysts’ consensus estimate of $57.23 billion, highlighting continued consumer demand for Uber’s services across global markets.

Q2 2026 Financial Highlights

Metric Q2 2026 Year-over-Year Change
Revenue $14.19 Billion +12%
Earnings Per Share $0.81 Met Estimates
Net Income $2.39 Billion Up from $1.35 Billion
Mobility Revenue $7.36 Billion Strong Growth
Delivery Revenue $5.25 Billion Strong Growth
Total Gross Bookings $58 Billion Above Estimates

Third-Quarter Outlook Falls Short of Expectations

Despite the strong second-quarter performance, Uber’s guidance for the third quarter disappointed investors. The company forecast gross bookings of approximately $59.25 billion at the midpoint of its guidance range, slightly below analysts’ average expectation of $59.33 billion.

Uber also projected third-quarter earnings per share between 84 cents and 88 cents, compared with the market consensus estimate of 89 cents. The softer guidance overshadowed otherwise healthy operating performance and contributed to the decline in the company’s share price following the earnings announcement.

Delivery Expansion Remains a Key Growth Strategy

Uber continues to strengthen its delivery business as it expands beyond ride-hailing services. Last month, the company announced a $14.8 billion agreement to acquire Germany-based Delivery Hero, a move expected to significantly broaden Uber’s food and grocery delivery network across multiple international markets.

The acquisition is designed to increase Uber’s global footprint while enhancing its ability to compete in the rapidly evolving online delivery industry. The company believes expanding its merchant network and customer reach will support long-term revenue growth despite increasing competition.

World Cup Boosted Ride-Hailing Demand

Chief Executive Officer Dara Khosrowshahi said international sporting events played an important role in driving mobility demand during the quarter. According to the company, more than 8 million tourists used Uber services across host cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico during the FIFA World Cup, providing a significant boost to ride volumes.

Khosrowshahi said Uber’s business continues to perform strongly, supported by healthy consumer demand and continued execution across both its mobility and delivery platforms.

Uber Accelerates Autonomous Vehicle Investments

Autonomous transportation remains one of Uber’s biggest long-term priorities. The company announced plans to invest more than $10 billion over the coming years to help bring autonomous vehicle (AV) technology to commercial scale.

Rather than building its own self-driving technology, Uber has focused on establishing partnerships with robotaxi developers, positioning itself as a platform that connects autonomous vehicle operators with passengers.

Management said the company aims to become one of the most valuable participants in the growing autonomous mobility ecosystem as commercial deployment expands globally.

Waymo Partnership Evolves as New Opportunities Emerge

Uber’s relationship with autonomous driving company Waymo is also changing. The two companies recently confirmed they will end their exclusive robotaxi partnership in Atlanta and Austin by early 2028, allowing both businesses greater flexibility in future deployments.

At the same time, Uber announced another milestone in its autonomous mobility strategy through its partnership with UK-based self-driving technology company Wayve.

Transport for London has granted private hire vehicle licences for Wayve’s autonomous vehicles, confirming they meet regulatory safety standards. Uber said more than 100,000 people have already registered interest in becoming among the first passengers to experience autonomous rides in London through its platform.

Market Perspective

Uber’s latest earnings report highlights a business that continues to generate solid revenue growth, expanding bookings, and improving profitability across its core operations. However, the company’s slightly weaker-than-expected third-quarter guidance tempered investor enthusiasm, resulting in a modest decline in its share price.
