प्रयागराज-कौशांबी सीमा — कौशांबी के पिपरी थाना क्षेत्र के चिल्ला शहबाजी (महमूदपुर मनौरी) गांव में 31 अगस्त की पूर्वाह्न करीब 11:30 बजे अवैध पटाखा निर्माण इकाई में हुए भीषण विस्फोट ने पूरे इलाके को हिला दिया। हादसे में कुल 13 लोगों की मौत हुई, जिनमें 8 नाबालिग बच्चे शामिल हैं। 20 से अधिक लोग गंभीर रूप से झुलसे और घायल हुए हैं, जिनका उपचार कौशांबी जिला अस्पताल तथा प्रयागराज के स्वरूप रानी नेहरू (एसआरएन) अस्पताल के ट्रॉमा सेंटर में कराया गया।
